Alabama
State Board of Cosmetology
7 Licensees 1,200 Hours Cosmetology (no Electrolgy-Electrolyis included); 16 years; 10th grade or equiv.; Examination

Arkansas
State Board of Cosmetology
2 Electrologists; 4 Cosmetologists; 2 Cosmetology school owners; 2 Public members 600 Hours, or 350 Hours and 1,500 Hours cosmetology license; Dual Examination

California
State Board of Barbering & Cosmetology
4 Industry members; 5 Public members 600 Hours, or 2 years apprenticeship; Examination 17 years; High School or equiv with a Dual Examination.

Connecticut
State Board of Hypertrichologists Dept. of Public Health and Addiction Services
2 Hypertrichologists; 1 Dermatologist 2 Public Members 600 Hours, Dual Examination required.

Delaware
State Board of Cosmetology
2 Barbers; 3 Cosmetologists; 1 Cosmetology Instructor; 3 Public members 300 Hours, or 600 Hours apprenticeship; Examination16 years; 10th grade or equiv.

District of Colombia
Barber & Cosmetology Board

Florida
Board of Medicine, Advisory Council
3 Electrologists, 2 Lay members with120 Hours academic and 200 Hours practical; Dual Examination; 2.0 CEU’S every 2 years

Hawaii
Dept. of Commerce & Consumer Affairs No Board 600 Hours, or 800 Hours apprenticeship by Rules/regulations; Dual Examination

Idaho

Iowa
State Board of Cosmetology Examiners, Dept. of Public Health
3 Cosmetology licensees; 2 Public members; 1 Nail technician, 1 Cosmetology School instructor 325 Hours; Examination, High School or GED.

Kansas
State Board of Cosmetology

Barbering and Cosmetology Examining Board 5 Industry members; 1 Public School rep; 1 Private School rep; 3 Public members Recognized Electrology course of at least 450 Hours in not less than 11 weeks & not more than 30 weeks, or 450 Hours in not less than 11 weeks & not more than 30 weeks, under the direct supervision of a certified instructor; Dual Examination.
